The Vintage Bronze St. Anthony and Our Lady Two-Sided Medal is figured on both faces within a shield-shaped plate with foliate corners. One side shows a friar in his habit holding the Christ Child on his arm, the image by which Saint Anthony of Padua has been known for centuries. The other shows a veiled woman with rays about her head and her hands crossed at her breast, standing on a crescent moon in the manner of the Immaculate Conception.
The lettering makes both petitions plain. Around Anthony runs SANCTE ANTONI O P N, for Sancte Antoni, ora pro nobis, "Saint Anthony, pray for us," the friar who preached to crowds in the open air and is asked now for whatever has been lost. Around Our Lady runs IANVA COELI O P N, "Gate of Heaven, pray for us," one of the titles of the Litany of Loreto. Two intercessors on one small plate of bronze, both asked the same thing.
The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
