The Large Mary Profile Rosary Center carries a medallion of the Blessed Virgin in bust profile, veiled and facing right, a plain raised halo behind her head and her mantle falling in long, quiet folds. A ring of raised beads circles the medallion, openwork wings of scrolled trefoils open at either side, and a further row of beading runs across the base.
Profile portraits of Our Lady are less common than frontal ones and they read differently, less an image to be addressed face to face than a likeness held in memory, the way anyone carries the face of someone they love.
