The Vintage Bronze Child at the Niche Medal holds a small domestic scene. A child in a nightshirt kneels up on the bed, one arm reaching toward a lit arched niche set in the wall, a chair pushed close and the bedding falling away beneath. It is the sort of subject nineteenth-century makers used to speak to children directly.
The reverse answers it: a single star at the upper left, casting one long ray down across a field of clouds. Read together, the two faces set a child's night prayer against a light that comes without words, the reaching hand on one side and the ray coming down on the other. Nothing is lettered on either face, and nothing needs to be. It makes a natural gift for a baptism, a first Communion, or a child who is afraid of the dark.
