The Vintage White Bronze St. Francis Blessing Medal shows the saint in profile in the Franciscan habit, tonsured and haloed, his hands drawn to his breast. The field behind him is cut with fine radiating lines and small crosses, and his name, FRANCISCVS, runs down the edge beside him. The reverse is given over to lettering, with a Tau cross rising from a rocky base at the foot.
That text is the blessing Francis wrote out by hand for Brother Leo, taken from the Book of Numbers: may the Lord bless you and keep you; may he show you his face and have mercy on you; may he turn his gaze toward you and give you peace. The Tau was the saint's own signature mark, and it closes the prayer here as it closed the parchment he gave his friend. Pale white bronze keeps the small lettering legible.
