The letters A and M are laced together at the centre of the Vintage White Bronze Crowned Ave Maria Monogram Center, standing clear of a ground of scrolls and small beaded knots, with an arched crown resting over them and a little orb at its summit. The openwork is cut right through, so the design shows as much by the shapes of the gaps as by the metal itself.
The interlaced AM is the old Marian cipher, read as Ave Maria, Hail Mary, the first words of the prayer a rosary repeats fifty-three times over. The crown above it names her as the Queen of Heaven, crowned in the last of the glorious mysteries. Together they carry a whole Marian devotion without an image or a word of running text, which is why the device has been worked into rosaries, banners and vestments for centuries.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
