Vintage Bronze Young Saint and Guardian Angel Medal

The front of this small medal carries the bust of a young saint, her long hair loose over her shoulders, her face lifted and turned a little to one side, a crescent of halo behind her head. The other face shows a standing winged angel in a long belted robe, both hands held out.
The angel is a guardian in the traditional attitude, hands open to lead and to steady rather than to hold. The Church has always taught that each person is given one: see that you despise not one of these little ones, Christ says, for their angels always behold the face of my Father. The old prayer children learn asks that same angel to light and guard, to rule and guide, through a day and a night. Cast small and worn against the skin, this medal keeps a young saint's face on one side and that companion on the other.
