The Vintage Bronze St. Anne de Beaupre Medal shows Saint Anne crowned and haloed with a small crowned child on her arm, her daughter Mary, whom she raised and taught. On the reverse the shrine church itself is modelled in low relief, its twin spires rising above a long facade and side chapels.
The lettering curves around her, SAINTE ANNE DE BEAUPRE P.P.N., the last letters standing for priez pour nous, pray for us. Pilgrims have come to that place on the Saint Lawrence since the seventeenth century, when sailors saved from a storm built the first chapel there in thanksgiving. Saint Anne, mother of the Blessed Virgin and grandmother of Christ, is invoked by mothers and grandmothers, by the sick and by travellers, and medals of this kind were carried home from her basilica.
The St. Anne de Beaupre medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique pilgrim original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
