The Vintage Bronze Small Monstrance Medal is a monstrance rendered in miniature: a beaded circular window at the center with a cross inside it, a wide burst of rays and flame worked around it, and a knopped stem set on a stepped, fluted foot. Every part of the full-size vessel is there, reduced to an inch and modelled deeply enough to keep its shadows.
The monstrance is the vessel in which the consecrated Host is exposed for adoration and carried in procession on Corpus Christi, and its shape is designed for one purpose, to let the Host be seen. That is why the rays surround it: the vessel is drawn as a sun, with the Blessed Sacrament at the center of the light.
