The Vintage Bronze Scrolled Latin American Crucifix has the weight and the wear of a piece that has been carried. The four terminals flare into spade shapes engraved with volutes and scrolls, the shaft is chased with small flowers above and below the figure, and a low ridge runs the length of the arms to catch the light. The corpus is polished bright against the darkened ornament, with a raised scroll above the head where the titulus belongs.
Dense engraved scrollwork on a heavy, plain cross is at home in the Latin American tradition, where the crucifix was the central object of the household and was made to be handled every day rather than admired from across a room.
