Vintage Bronze Radiant Rays Crucifix with INRI Scroll

The Vintage Bronze Radiant Rays Crucifix is crowned with a burst of pierced foliate rays above the head of the cross, spreading wider than the arms themselves, so that the whole piece seems lit from the top. A ribbon scroll curves beneath the burst, and the corpus hangs below it with the loincloth knotted at the hip.
The scroll is lettered INRI, the abbreviation of Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews. Pilate ordered those words nailed above the cross as a charge against the man beneath them, and when the chief priests asked him to change the wording he refused: what I have written, I have written. The Church has kept the title ever since, reading it as the truth it was meant to mock, and the rays above it answer it, glory set at the head of the Passion.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the cross's vintage character.
