The Vintage Bronze Praying Madonna Floral Rosary Center shows the Virgin at prayer, veiled and looking down, her hands joined at her breast. The frame around her is pierced into a wreath of climbing vines and five-petalled flowers, and the reverse carries a second, softer relief of a crowned figure standing within scrolled openwork.
Mary at prayer is the oldest way of showing her apart from the Nativity: not teaching, not enthroned, simply attending. Set at the join of a rosary it is an image of exactly what the person holding the beads is doing, and the crowned figure on the reverse answers it with the glory that follows. The relief of the face is high and rounded, which is what gives so small a center its presence, and there is no lettering anywhere on the piece to draw the eye from the two figures.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
