A veiled woman leans down from the upper right, a figure in a hooded habit kneels at the lower left, and between their hands a rosary hangs free, its beads and small cross cast one by one down the middle of the medal. The whole scene is a single gesture: something given, someone receiving.
This is Our Lady giving the rosary to Saint Dominic, one of the most enduring images in Marian devotion and the one his order has carried since the thirteenth century.
