The Vintage Bronze Ornate Crucifix with Chalice and Wheat Reverse is worked on both faces. The front carries the corpus against a crest of scrolled leaves, with broad fleur-de-lis terminals at all four points and a small plaque above the head. Turn it over and the whole surface is given to a second image entirely, cut in fine low relief.
That reverse is a Eucharistic one. A chalice with a radiant Host above it fills the crossing, ears of wheat sweep out along the arms, and vine leaves and grapes run down the shaft: bread and wine, the matter of the Mass, gathered around the cross that gives them their meaning. Held one way the piece is Calvary, held the other it is the altar, and together the two faces make a single meditation on the sacrifice offered once and offered still.
This crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
