Vintage Bronze Ornate Beaded Crucifix

Every edge of this ornate crucifix is beaded. The arms widen into fan-shaped ends outlined with rows of fine beads, each fan filled with a raised palmette and tipped with three small balls, and short beaded rays spread from the crossing behind the corpus. Against all that ornament the figure of Christ is quiet and deeply cut, the head fallen to one side, the body long and drawn.
There is no lettering anywhere on the casting, not even a titulus above the head, which keeps all the attention on the modeling of the corpus. At an inch and three quarters it is a good size for the crucifix of a five-decade rosary, and the antiqued finish gathers in the beadwork and among the rays, giving the whole piece a depth that a polished surface would flatten out.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
