The Vintage Bronze Openwork Cross Rosary Center is built in two layers. A plain cross with gently flared arms lies across the top; beneath it, cut clean through the metal, curving petal shapes and small scrolls open outward to four beaded points. The petals read as a lotus in bloom, and the solid cross seems to float above them, held in the middle of all that light and air.
A flowering ground beneath the cross is an old idea in Christian ornament: the wood that bore the Crucifixion is the tree of life, and everything around it opens because of what happened there. At an inch across this is a modest center, well scaled to a lighter rosary or a pocket rosary where a heavy medallion would be out of proportion, and the pierced ground keeps the weight comfortably low.
This openwork rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the piece's vintage character.
