The Vintage Bronze Old St. Peter Medal shows the apostle standing at full length, haloed and robed to the feet, a key raised in one hand and a book held in the other. SANCTVS PETRVS, Saint Peter, runs clearly around him. This is the old Roman standing type rather than the later portrait bust, and the key is the whole point of it.
Christ told Peter he would be given the keys of the kingdom, and that promise turned a fisherman into the rock the Church was built on. He remains the saint people ask for steadiness, for second chances, and for a door to open. The reverse opens onto a fuller scene, with a winged figure approaching from the left, a standing figure in a burst of rays behind a low altar at the center, and a smaller figure kneeling at the right in the light, composed with the crowded, engraved look of an eighteenth-century European medal.
The St. Peter medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
