The Vintage Bronze Old Credo Cross is modelled fully in the round rather than in flat relief. A raised square boss at the crossing is cut with a diagonal saltire, each of the four arms is ribbed like a turned column before ending in a rounded finial, and a stepped collar closes the head. Seen at an angle it looks less like a medal than like a small carved object.
Sturdy crosses of this kind came from Latin America, where they anchor a traditional rosary at the place the Creed is prayed, the first article of faith said before a single bead of the mysteries is told. Made to be held between finger and thumb at the very beginning of the prayer, and again at its end, the Credo cross was cast heavy enough to feel like the foundation it stands for.
