The Vintage Bronze Large St. Michael Rosary Center gives the archangel plenty of room. In the round medallion he strides forward with his wings spread and one arm raised to strike, while beneath his feet a scaled beast twists and gives way. Around it runs an unusually rich frame: a bird finial above, curling acanthus at either side ending in a pair of lion masks, and a row of round beads along the lower edge.
The raised sword and the trampled dragon have identified St. Michael the Archangel since the earliest images of the combat described in Revelation, where he casts the dragon down out of heaven. He is kept as protector of the Church and patron of soldiers, police officers and everyone who stands between others and harm. The modelling here is deep and lively, and the fight really does read as a fight.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
