The arms of the Vintage Bronze Large Lattice Crucifix are cut clean through into an open lattice of crossed diagonal bars framed by a raised rim, so light passes through the metal on either side of the figure. The corpus is long and quietly modelled, and the same lattice runs down the shaft below the feet, ending in a pierced trefoil.
Above the head a small solid tablet is lettered INRI, the Latin Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, the charge Pilate ordered fixed to the cross and the one detail all four Gospels record. Openwork this fine gives the crucifix real presence at its size while keeping it light, and the pierced ground behind Christ lets the world show through the cross rather than stopping at it.
The lattice crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the crucifix's vintage character.
