The Joan of Arc rosary center carries the same design as the matching medal. Joan stands in three-quarter profile, hooded and heavily cloaked, both hands closed over the hilt of a sword held upright before her, and her name is lettered in an arc across the top of the field, JEANNE D'ARC.
The sword is held like a cross and the head bows a little toward it, Joan at prayer rather than in the field. She is patroness of France and of soldiers, and the antique original was made in memory of Reims, the cathedral city where she saw the king crowned in 1429. A center of this kind gives a rosary a particular intention, so the same saint is met again at every turn of the beads.
