The Vintage Bronze Joan of Arc Rosary Center is cut to the outline of a fleur-de-lis, its three petals rising like a halo behind a helmeted head shown in profile, with the curve of a breastplate below. The modelling is spare, all smooth rounded surfaces and very few lines, and the piece carries no lettering at all.
Armor and the fleur-de-lis together are the emblems of Joan of Arc, the girl of Domremy who led the armies of France and was burned at Rouen in 1431, condemned at nineteen and canonized five centuries later. She is patroness of France, of soldiers, and of anyone asked to act on a conviction that others will not credit. At three quarters of an inch, it is scaled for the center of a handmade rosary.
This rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
