The Vintage Bronze Huguenot Form Cross is an eight-pointed cross with broad flaring arms, each pierced by a round opening and tipped with paired balls, cast with a rough, irregular surface that keeps every mark of the original.
The eight-pointed form has a long history behind it. It is the Maltese cross of the crusading orders, and its eight points have been read since the Middle Ages as the eight beatitudes, one for each blessing spoken on the mount. The shape was later taken up in France as the badge of Protestant families, which is where the familiar name comes from, but the cross itself is older than that use and older than the division it came to mark.
