The Child Jesus stands alone on a low step, small and upright in a long gown, his right hand lifted in blessing and a little orb resting in his left, a spiked nimbus flaring around his head. This is the Child shown as king and teacher rather than as an infant in arms: sovereign already, and blessing already.
The reverse is lettered in five lines, CONGREGATION DU SAINT ENFANT JÉSUS, French for Congregation of the Holy Child Jesus. The original was made for the members of such a congregation, one of the many French schools and confraternities of the nineteenth century that placed their teaching and their children under the protection of the Holy Child. It remains a fitting medal for a teacher, a godparent, or anyone praying for a child.
The Holy Child Jesus medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
