The Vintage Bronze Four Roses Crucifix closes every point of the cross with a flower. A full-blown rose sits inside a quatrefoil terminal at the head, at each arm and at the foot, a broad sunburst spreads out from behind the corpus at the crossing, and the figure is modelled with the head fallen to the right and the loincloth caught at the hip.
The tablet above the head is lettered INRI, the Latin abbreviation of the charge Pilate had fixed to the cross: Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews. Meant as mockery, it has been read by the Church ever since as simple truth. The roses answer it in their own language, the Passion already in flower, and at this scale the crucifix makes a substantial center for a full rosary.
The four roses crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
