The Vintage Bronze First Communion Medal, Eucharist is a large piece with scrolled shoulders and a stepped architectural frame. The front is given to the Blessed Sacrament alone: a chalice on a high foot, the Host rising above it in a burst of rays and lettered IHS, wheat and a grape vine growing up on either side. The reverse shows Christ standing between two piers, his right hand raised in blessing, wheat at one side of him and vine at the other.
Around the front runs RECUERDO DE MI PRIMERA COMUNION — souvenir of my First Communion — and across the reverse, in smaller Latin, HIC EST PANIS DE COELO, this is the bread from heaven, from the sixth chapter of St. John. The Spanish legend places the antique original in Spain or Latin America, where a medal of this size was the keepsake of the day a child first received Communion.
The First Communion medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
