The Vintage Bronze Delicate Crucifix with Flowered Points closes every arm in a round medallion, and each medallion opens into a fanned palmette like a flower coming into bloom. The corpus is worked in high relief, the head fallen to the right shoulder, with a small INRI titulus above it.
Those four letters abbreviate the charge Pilate ordered fixed to the cross — Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews — written in mockery and read by the Church ever since as plain truth. The flowering at the four points belongs to an older idea still, the cross understood as a tree that came into blossom, the dead wood of Good Friday bearing fruit. Crosses of this family were made this way on purpose, and at an inch and three-eighths the ornament stays light rather than heavy.
The delicate flowered crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
