The Vintage Bronze Beaded Line Crucifix is built up in strong bands. The arms flare at their ends and are bordered in fine beading, a tall crown-like finial rises above the head of the cross, and the corpus is set against a deeply cut nimbus of rays that throws the figure forward and keeps it legible from across a room.
The ornament here is geometric rather than floral, beads and bands and rays, which gives the piece a sterner character than most crucifixes of its size and something closer to architecture than to a garden. The rayed nimbus behind the corpus is the older idea in the design: glory breaking out of the moment of death, Easter already present in Good Friday. At two inches the crucifix has real presence in the hand.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
