The Ave Maria Rosary Center is a small two-sided piece with a bell-shaped body and flared shoulders. One face carries a veiled head in low relief set within an arched outline that frames it like a niche, the modelling soft and gentled with age in the original. The other is lettered AVE MARIA beneath a cross and a raised M, the monogram of Mary.
Ave Maria, Hail Mary, are the first two words of the prayer the beads themselves count out, fifty-three times around a full rosary. That makes this an unusually direct little center: nothing about it is elaborate, and it simply names what the rosary is doing. At half an inch it disappears among the beads until the eye finds it, and the antiqued finish keeps the shallow lettering legible.
The Ave Maria center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
