The Vintage Bronze Ave Maria Crowned Center is unusually rich for its size. The whole design is built around a crowned monogram: the letters A and M interlaced to form the skeleton of the piece, a beaded crown arching over them, and scrolls, small flowers and leaves filling the openwork on either side. At the middle an oval cartouche holds a small standing figure against a rayed and beaded ground.
The crowned AM cipher stands for Ave Maria, the opening words of the Hail Mary, and it is among the oldest devices used on European rosary centers, a whole prayer written in two letters and crowned as the prayer's subject is crowned. Few centers manage to say so much with so little running text, and this one holds its detail well at an inch and a quarter.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
