No lettering appears anywhere, so the image speaks on its own terms: Christ crucified, held in a frame of pure geometry. The stepped terminals belong to the Art Deco manner of the 1920s and 1930s, when religious metalwork took up the clean lines of the buildings rising around it, and the result is a crucifix modern in structure and entirely traditional in devotion.
