The Vintage Bronze Three-Leaf Crucifix ends each arm in a spray of three pointed leaves, with a small flower opening at the crossing just above the head of the corpus and banded collars at the top and foot of the upright.
The leaves give the cross a growing, living outline, in the old tradition that reads it as a tree: the wood that brought death turned into the wood that brings life. Three leaves to each arm hold the Trinity in the pattern without spelling it out, the way medieval ornament always preferred to work. The corpus is long and simply modelled, and the eye keeps returning to it through all the foliage, which is the point of a design like this one. Nothing is lettered anywhere on it, so the whole of its meaning is carried by the shape.
