The Vintage Bronze Smallest St. Benedict Crucifix is the little one of the family, no longer than a thumbnail and plain in the arms. The front carries the corpus with INRI above the head and a round St. Benedict medal set into the crossing; the reverse shows that medal's other face, the habited saint standing with his staff and his book.
INRI stands for Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, the charge Pilate ordered fixed above the cross. The Benedictine crucifix has been kept for centuries as a protection, carried in a pocket, hung at the door of a house, given to the sick, and this size makes it easy to have with you through an ordinary day. The word ITALY is cast down the shaft, a trace of the workshop where the antique original was made.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
