Vintage Bronze Sacred Heart Cross with Rays

The Sacred Heart Cross sets the burning heart at its crossing, flames rising from the top of it and drops falling beneath, against a sunburst cut in fine close rays. A small fleur-de-lis is raised on the upper and lower arms, and the two side arms are pierced open in a scrolled outline that lets the light through.
The design joins two devotions that belong together: the cross of the Passion and the heart that endured it. The Sacred Heart is Christ's love pictured plainly, wounded and burning and offered anyway, and setting it at the crossing puts the love and the sacrifice in the same place. There is no lettering. Everything the piece has to say is said by the heart at the center and the rays that spread from it out to the four arms.
The Sacred Heart Cross was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the cross's vintage character.
