Each of the four arms swells into a broad cusped terminal stamped with a lozenge and a small scroll, and at the crossing a heart stands proud of the surface in high relief, crowned by a spray of flame with a single open flower at its top.
The Sacred Heart set at the center of a cross is a favorite pairing in Mexican folk metalwork: the instrument of the Passion and the love that accepted it, shown together in one object. The flame is the burning charity of that heart, and the flower is what comes of it.
