Vintage Bronze Crucifix with the Tools of the Passion

The Crucifix with the Tools of the Passion works the instruments of Christ's suffering in relief across the arms and the upper shaft, the small implements of the arrest and the nailing scattered over the wood rather than arranged as a trophy. A scroll above the head of the corpus is lettered INRI, and the foot widens into a pointed terminal filled with a rayed oval.
Those four letters stand for Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, the titulus Pilate had fixed above the head. Crosses that gather the tools of the Passion around it were made to be read slowly, one object at a time, in the manner of the old meditations, so that a whole devotion could be held in the hand and worked through in silence.
This crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
