The Vintage White Bronze St. Anthony of Padua Confraternity Cross is the badge of a society formed under the saint's patronage. In the roundel at its center St. Anthony stands tonsured in the Franciscan habit, the Christ Child on one arm and a spray of lilies in the other, and lilies grow again from each of the four arms. The reverse carries the IHS monogram in a sunburst and an anchor bearing a cross set on rock.
The lettering is unusually full. Around the saint runs S. ANTONI — ORA PRO NOBIS, Saint Anthony, pray for us. The reverse gives CONFRAT. S. ANTONII PATAVINI, Confraternity of Saint Anthony of Padua, and the date 1725, carried over from the antique original. Anthony is asked for what has been lost, and remembered in the bread given to the poor in his name.
