The Vintage Bronze Veni Creator Spiritus Dove Medal gives its whole face to one image: the Holy Spirit descending as a dove, wings swept back and feathers incised in a spare, confident line, with raised dots separating the words that run around the rim.
The legend reads VENI CREATOR SPIRITVS, come, Creator Spirit, the opening of the ninth-century hymn sung at Pentecost, at ordinations, at the election of a pope and at Confirmation. It is the Church's oldest way of asking the Spirit to come and make something new, and it goes on to ask him to fill with heavenly grace the hearts that he himself has made. Worn daily it becomes a standing prayer for wisdom and courage, which makes it a fine gift for a confirmand or for anyone beginning work that will take more than their own strength.
