Product Details

The Vintage Bronze St. Peter Enthroned Medal shows the Apostle seated in majesty, a low crown on his head, his right hand raised in blessing and the keys held upright in his left, against a background densely worked with rosettes and scrollwork. It follows the venerable bronze statue that sits in St. Peter's Basilica, whose extended foot generations of pilgrims have worn smooth with their hands and lips.

The reverse carries a bare-headed papal portrait in profile, lettered PIVS . XI . PONT . MAX ., Pius XI, Supreme Pontiff. He reigned from 1922 to 1939, opened two Holy Years, and gave the Church the feast of Christ the King. Roman pilgrimage and jubilee medals of this kind were bought near the basilica and carried home as proof that one had gone and prayed at the tomb of Peter, and the two faces together say exactly that.

This medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.

  • Made in the USA
  • Artisan-cast from an antique original
  • Finished by hand, so every piece is subtly unique.
  • Buy the medal alone, or add an optional chain or cord necklace
  • Add a cord or chain to have it arrive assembled and ready to wear
  • Arrives in a deluxe velour jewelry box
