The Vintage Bronze St. Benedict Scroll Medal is shaped as an open scroll, a nod to the Rule that Benedict wrote for his monks and that has ordered Western monastic life for fifteen centuries. A round medallion is applied at the centre of each face: Saint Benedict standing with a tall cross in one hand and a book in the other, and the Benedictine cross set in its ring of letters.
That cross and its letters make up the classic Saint Benedict medal, worn as a sign of protection against evil and blessed with a rite of its own. The book in his hand is the Rule, the cross the sign by which he broke the poisoned cup set before him.
