The Vintage Bronze Sculpted Head of Christ Rosary Center is built around a single face. Christ is shown bearded, the crown of thorns twisted across the brow and the hair falling in heavy locks to the shoulders, carried in unusually high relief for a piece this small and standing proud of the plain oval hoop that frames it.
The Holy Face has been a devotion in its own right for centuries, prayed in reparation and in sorrow, and a rosary centered on it keeps that gaze at the join of the beads, where the hand comes back at the end of every decade. There is no lettering anywhere on the piece, and the hoop is left entirely undecorated so that nothing competes with the face. Because each casting is finished by hand, the depth of shadow in the features falls a little differently from one to the next.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
