The Vintage Bronze Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Carmel Medal carries a different devotion on each face. On the front Christ stands with rays about his head and his hand at the flaming heart on his breast, ringed by a Latin legend that closes MISERERE NOBIS, have mercy on us.
The reverse shows Our Lady of Mount Carmel crowned, the crowned Child on her arm, scapulars hanging from her hand and small heads rising in flames at her feet, the souls in purgatory whom the scapular promise concerns. Around her runs a Spanish legend naming CARMEN, Carmel. Medals shaped like this one, with a crowned top and flared side arms, were worn in place of the cloth scapular, sturdier than wool and carrying both devotions at once: the Heart that has mercy and the Mother who intercedes.
The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
