The Vintage Bronze Sacred Heart and IHS Rosary Center puts two of the oldest emblems of devotion to Christ back to back. The front is given to a Sacred Heart in unusually high relief, encircled by the crown of thorns and rising into flame beneath a straight fluted crossbar that reads as both rays and the arms of a cross. The reverse bears the letters IHS in a tall interlaced monogram with a small cross rising from the crossbar of the H.
IHS is the ancient Christogram for the name of Jesus, drawn from the first letters of that name in Greek and carried into Latin use, where it was read as well as Iesus Hominum Salvator, Jesus, Savior of Mankind. Set against the Sacred Heart, which honors the love that name was given for, the two faces make one compact statement of the same devotion, said twice.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
