The Vintage Bronze Rose Crucifix and Rose Cluster Center were made to be prayed together. A full-blown rose sits in a round boss at each of the four ends of the cross, the corpus is set against a small rayed shield at the crossing, and a fifth gathering of roses and leaves forms the matching center, so the same flower runs through a rosary from the center to the cross.
The rose is the flower the prayer is named for. Medieval writers described the rosary as a chaplet of roses offered to Our Lady, each Hail Mary a bloom laid at her feet, and rosary makers have been putting roses on the crucifix and the center ever since. Here they are cast in high relief, deep enough that every bloom holds its own shadow, while the rayed shield behind the corpus gathers the light at the crossing.
The crucifix and center were faithfully reproduced from antique originals and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves their vintage character.
