The front of the Vintage Bronze Open Sacred Heart Rosary Center is given to the Sacred Heart: a heart bound about by the crown of thorns, flames rising from its top and a cross standing in them. On the reverse a veiled woman bows her head with her hands folded at her breast, set inside an arched frame. Long slots are cut through the body of the center on either side, so light passes through the piece as it moves.
Two words are cast into the reverse of the antique original and reproduced faithfully here, STERLING above the figure and ITALY below it. They are the old metal and country marks of the workshop that made the first piece, and they place it in Italy, where the devotion to the Sacred Heart was carried through the nineteenth century in exactly this form: the heart crowned with thorns, burning, and surmounted by the cross that gives it its meaning.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
