The Vintage Bronze Mount Carmel and Sacred Heart Medal is a two-sided oval crested with a cast ribbon bow and unusually well modelled on both faces. The front holds the crowned Virgin with the crowned Child on her arm beneath an arc of twelve stars, a small scapular held out at the center below them. Turn it over and Christ appears to the waist, a rayed halo behind his head and the flaming Heart on his breast.
The scapular in the Virgin's hands names her Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who in Carmelite tradition gave the brown scapular to St. Simon Stock as a sign of her protection. Pairing that devotion with the Sacred Heart is a long-standing arrangement, her promise on one side and the love it answers on the other, while the twelve stars are the crown of the woman in the Apocalypse.
The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
