The Vintage Bronze Lourdes 1914 Eucharistic Congress Cross carries a great deal on a small squared cross. One face is given wholly to the Eucharist: the IHS monogram in a sunburst at the head, Christ at the crossing with a globe in one hand and the other raised in blessing, rays and flowers along the arms, and a monstrance with a rayed host at the foot.
The other face is Lourdes. An INRI monogram crowns the head, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews; the Virgin stands with her hands joined in the rock niche of the grotto; the arms are lettered LOURDES and 1914, and beneath her runs CONGRES EUCHARISTIQUE, Eucharistic Congress. The basilica appears in miniature on the lower shaft. The date belongs to the antique original and marks the congress held at the shrine that year.
The cross was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
