The Vintage Bronze Holy Spirit Dove Rosary Center shows the dove descending head down, wings swept wide and tail lifted behind it, against a broad fan of rays that spreads the full width of the piece. A curved bar below is worked with a row of raised beading. Pentecost is reduced here to its essentials and made small enough to live quietly among a strand of beads.
The dove in rays is the oldest image of the Holy Spirit in Christian art, taken from the Jordan where the Spirit came down on Christ and from the upper room where the Church received the same gift. Set at the join of a rosary it stands over every mystery told on the beads, a reminder that the prayer begins with the Spirit rather than with us. At half an inch it is the smallest center in this line, suited to a rosary strung on fine beads.
