Product Details

The Vintage Bronze Holy Child Medal is a devotion and a document at once. The front shows the haloed Child standing on a low plinth in a long embroidered tunic, one hand raised in blessing and a tall flowering staff in the other, framed by two olive branches. The figure copies a dressed statue of the Holy Child of the kind kept in churches across Spain and Latin America and clothed anew for each feast.

The reverse is filled with eight lines of Spanish among laurel sprays: CONSAGRACION EPISCOPAL DE Mons. JOSE A. LUQUE, OBISPO TIT. DE FORNOS Y AUXILIAR DE CORDOBA, CORDOBA, OCTUBRE 28 DE 1914, the episcopal consecration of Monsignor Jose A. Luque, titular bishop of Fornos and auxiliary of Cordoba, on 28 October 1914. Medals like this were struck for the guests at a consecration and kept for a lifetime afterward, which is how one particular morning in Cordoba comes down to us in bronze.

This medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.

  • Made in the USA
  • Artisan-cast from an antique original
  • Finished by hand, so every piece is subtly unique.
  • Buy the medal alone, or add an optional chain or cord necklace
  • Add a cord or chain to have it arrive assembled and ready to wear
  • Arrives in a deluxe velour jewelry box
