The whole composition tilts toward the children, which is the guardian angel devotion in a single gesture: attention bent downward, toward the smaller and the less able.
The reverse is quiet by comparison. A star stands in the upper field casting long rays across the surface, and a spray of lilies and leaves grows up the lower left, while the middle is left smooth and open, room for a name or a date of the kind these medals were often given to mark. There is no lettering anywhere on the piece. It is a good medal for a child, and a better one for the parent of a child.
