The Vintage Bronze Guardian Angel and Child Medal sets its scene under a Gothic arch bordered in flowering vine. A haloed angel stands with wings swept wide, hands resting on the shoulders of a small haloed child, and above them the dove of the Holy Spirit descends in a burst of rays. It is the guardian angel in its oldest and plainest form: someone larger standing behind someone smaller, and not moving away.
The reverse turns to a winged cherub head above a flaming heart, set in a rayed sunburst and ringed with the Latin words ANGELE DOMINI, Angel of the Lord. Those are the opening words of the prayer generations of children learned first, the one asking the angel God appoints to light and guard and rule and guide.
